Was dem Wagen außerordentlich gut steht.

Eher so linke Seite Niederrhein. Elfgen, Belmen, Garzweiler, Vanille Pudding, alles gut.  Mehr zu den W123 Farben hier.

Mercedes Color code DB479 Moorbraun was available from 1979 to 1981 for the model series W123, exclusively as part of the second series (Mopf1). In the automotive era of color variety dominated by metallic paint and high-pitched unit tones, DB479 remained unobtrusive in the street scenes. Because nearly nobody ordered it. Who dared to venture out of the garage with 479 Moorbraun was considered a real color blind or a chocolate manufacturer with minimum 75% cocoa in the blood. Together, less than 1/100,000 of the German  population. Great target group, really.

Who did the brave Mercedes color strategists want to achieve with the wild foray into the absolute chocolate brown for 254.25 marks on top? Me of course. Who else? I’m totally in love with this beautiful DB479. A color that somehow looks, as if a group of chocolate bars had agreed to meet naked on a hot stove. To melt away together.  In combination with “ 034 Stoff Dattel“ Moorbraun is simply gorgeous. This W123 200 sedan also received color glazing during its restoration. Which suits the car extremely well.

The times have changed. What once seemed like the complaint that had turned into varnish against good taste has now become a much sought-after extra. Moorbraun has matured to become the iconic ambassador for Mercedes color mythology and stands for a time when conservatism, reliability and craziness were not yet a contradiction. Just as little as a punk band singing a ballad during the morning show. By the way, geographically, I would personally not locate a Mercedes in DB 479 Moorbraun in Swabia. Rather on the left side of the Lower Rhine. Elfgen, Belmen, Garzweiler, vanilla pudding, everything stays good. More about the W123 colors here.
